Derek Ryter

Derek Ryter is a geologist, artist, musician, writer, and joke teller from southwest Colorado. He has written everything from mountain bike guidebooks, scientific papers, and comedy, to historical fiction. He is inspired by Will Rogers, Mark Twain, Steinbeck, and Harper Lee. Derek also likes to make stories real. Mercedee Meehan is a true story and the locations and characters are real and in the context of the 1890s. This may not matter to some, but one of the characters could be your ancestor, or if you go to Nova Scotia you could actually visit these places and see the old buildings.
