Sheldon L. Loar

Sheldon began his career as a computer systems consultant during the personal computer boom of the 1980s. He then spent the next 12 years working for International Paper and, in 1997, founded the first of three organizations, including co-founder of Emerge Leadership Group.

Sheldon has spent the past 25 years helping individual contributors and organizational leaders make critical role transitions.

He and his business partner, Jim Wentworth, recently published the ground-breaking book: "Is Management for Me? For Those Who Want to Manage and for Those Who Don't."

Sheldon co-developed "Is Management for Me?" a learning experience helping producers determine their readiness for a management/leadership role, and "The Leadership Transition" process to assist first-line leaders in moving from high-performing producers to high-contributing leaders.

He also created the highly acclaimed "Maximizing Your Impact" process focused on helping those who manage or lead other leaders to be more strategic in allocating resources, managing organizational silos, preparing and selecting first-line (and other) leaders, developing leaders, and fostering a strategic mindset (encouraging innovation and risk-taking with their direct reports).

Sheldon has led discussion groups and consulted and coached individuals and organizations throughout North and South America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa.
