I am a librarian, a wife, a mom and a grandmother as well as an artist, a gardener, a zookeeper, and a traveler. I adore my family and my extended family of friends and coworkers, however, the animals that surround me often have the sweetest and funniest stories to tell. I live on a property that we like to call the Almost an Acre Farm where there are chickens, turkeys, a rabbit named Moonspin, two cats, and three dogs. The youngest dog, named Belle Pepper, is very dear to my heart. She is a rescue mutt, half Catahoula half German Shepherd, and she is missing an eye. I hope that she gives me some great stories to tell soon.

At my real job, (I still can’t believe they pay me to do this), I run a library. It is one of the many joys in my life. My grandmother was a librarian and I am so very glad that I followed in her footsteps. I have been many things in my life, a shoe salesperson, a landscapist, a horse drawn carriage driver, and a teacher’s aide just to name a few. However, it is here, surrounded by books and creative people, that I belong. Of course, there are animals here, too. Our Library has a zoo of its own, with Lola the Bearded Dragon, three library chickens, two fancy rats named Nicodemus and Templeton, and in a neighboring office a bunny named Cinnabun and a tiny dwarf hamster named Charlotte.

We don’t deserve pets or books. They both add so much to our lives. They sure have added to mine, in so many ways. I hope that I get to share many of these little stories with you all.
