Vagelis Plevris

Vagelis (Evangelos) Plevris is a structural engineer, professor, and science communicator making complex ideas simple. Passionate about research, teaching, and improving lives through knowledge, he writes about science, mathematics, engineering, and how ideas shape the modern world.

He is an Associate Professor at Qatar University in Doha and serves as Chief Editor of the “Computational Methods in Structural Engineering” section of Frontiers in Built Environment. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering and an MSc from the National Technical University of Athens, an MBA from Athens University of Economics and Business, and a PhD in Structural Engineering.

His work spans finite element methods, structural analysis, earthquake engineering, optimization, and artificial intelligence in engineering. Alongside his academic career, he actively communicates science to a broad audience through articles, talks, and online platforms, aiming to bridge the gap between deep theory and everyday understanding.
