Sara Fashandi

Sara Fashandi is an Iranian American memoirist whose books preserve stories of family, resilience, immigration, and the transformative power of education. Born in Tehran, she came to the United States in 1977 to attend college and earned a master’s degree in biochemistry from The Ohio State University.

Her first book, Message in a Matchbox: Memories of a Childhood in Tehran, was a finalist for several national and international book awards. Her second book, From Tehran to Tomorrow, continues her brother Mohsen’s journey as he leaves Iran, struggles to build a life in America, and ultimately helps bring his five siblings to the United States.

Sara lives in Northern California and writes about courage, identity, and the experiences that bind families across generations.
