My name is Tom Grooms and I’m a nonfiction author with a story to tell.
It’s really tough to write a nonfiction book that isn’t boring driving the reader crazy. That is what I did as a novice writer on intelligence and business. It’s not easy to please a reader wanting to be entertained.
Even though one of my twenty books was the recipient of the coveted First Place Texas Nonfiction Historical Award, I had few sales. I decided not to waste any more of my life unprofitably pleasing myself. It’s time to start fresh, so I unpublished my previous books.
There are moments in our lives when we need to admit to ourselves that what we are doing isn’t working. I’m there.
This life is full of hardships, but we can live in hope that our day will come. If you are holding this book, then you have given me a second chance.
I’ve shoveled horse manure, cleaned out under neath meat cases, worked as a laborer in a cow-hide tannery, flunked out of college, and been fired from a minimum wage job. I live with the disgusting memories of the crappy people with whom I’ve worked for and with over the years. They took the highest salaries, pretended to care, practiced unethical and perverted behavior while spouting platitudes of being the best.
I figure, I’m not alone or this is a unique experience. There has to be others that are also fed-up with the human condition. When we are surrounded with disappointment, it seems like the worst people in the world have it all.
That’s why all my books have been positive and I try to never say anything negative about anyone or anything.
However, I do write without censorship, bias and influence. My penmanship honors honesty, sincerity, and the conviction of my thoughts in all I write.
For over fifty years, I worked two to five jobs to achieve one decent income. There was one ten-year stretch when I woke every morning at 4:00 am to drive across the metroplex and arrive home about 10:00 pm in the evening.
I’m saying this not to brag or complain, but to share some of the sacrifices demanded if your ambition is greater than your circumstance. I have a collection of over 1,000 job rejection letters. Sometimes, you take what you can get, hope for the best, and keep going.
Later in my career, I established myself as one of the leading pioneers in international business. Having created the world’s first international business card, taught the first international business course in Texas, and helped to achieve the first accredited international business degree in Texas were significant contributions.
Half of my former students are entrepreneurs and one-third have millionaire status. The results of my teaching have helped many worldwide.
During my career, drawing on my experience, I traveled and worked in China, Russia, Europe, Latin America and other countries gives greater meaning to what I write. My work more than captures a glimpse of what and why events are happening today and a vision of the future to come.
I’ve always enjoyed learning. I never stopped learning.
I’ve never stopped trying to help others. I always try to make a contribution or to make things better.
I’m a person who enjoys working for himself, his home life, reading everything, world travel, long walks, and a comfortable rocking chair.
