Gerald Broomfield

I’m Gerald Broomfield, a British author with a passion for atmospheric storytelling across genres—horror, fantasy, science fiction, and even children’s tales when the mood strikes. My writing often blends surreal realism with emotional depth, drawing readers into textured worlds that linger long after the final page.

At the moment, I’m working on a series of short stories inspired by Dad’s Army, the classic British TV show that holds a special place in my heart. It’s a nostalgic project that lets me explore humour, character, and community in ways that feel both familiar and fresh.

I was born in Woolwich, South London in 1952 and educated at a comprehensive school. Cinema has always been one of my great loves, and over the years I’ve dabbled in screenwriting and home filmmaking—trying to capture something magical with whatever tools were at hand. Authors like M.R. James, Ray Bradbury, and Frank Richards (of Billy Bunter fame) have shaped my imagination and continue to inspire me.

These days, I still live in South London. I’m not fully retired, but I’ve found joy in creating stories—some for myself, and some for anyone who might stumble across them and find a spark of connection.
