Jane Keightley

Hello and welcome to my Bio. I’m Jane Keightley – mum to two sons, a daughter and an adorable Tabby cat! I live in a barn conversion in a tiny hamlet in the Isle of Axholme with no pub or shops, just amazing country views. I have a very varied skill set but have always wanted to be a published author and when I was made redundant in Lockdown and decided to turn my lifelong dream into reality.

I’ve really enjoyed the journey from writing the manuscript, editing and submitting it for publication and the marketing process to create awareness and increase sales. I was very lucky to find an incredibly talented illustrator called Nicola Holmshaw who more than fulfilled her brief to create bright, bold images that bring the words to life.

Blast Off to Planet Fun! was released in April 2022 and features a colourful Bulldog called Smudge, his intergalactic adventures through the solar system and his exciting trip to Planet Fun!

My next book called Jamming in the Jungle is currently being illustrated and will be published in November 2022. I have started a third book which teaches young readers how to reduce their carbon footprint and ways to save the planet for themselves and future generations.

I’m a Literacy Champion with the National Literacy Trust and like to make reading and learning both interactive and fun. I attend various events and school visits to read the book to the children and get creative decorating stones with paint pens, making Smudge with coloured card and felt patches and icing French Bulldog shaped gingerbread for the children to eat!
