Will Brandon

In her work with the Texas Heritage Trails program and throughout her career as writer and editor, Barbara Brannon of Spur, Texas, digs deep into the history of the Lone Star State and travels many miles of Texas’s highways and byways. Her history articles have appeared in the Journal of the Wild West History Association, Authentic Texas Magazine, and Lubbock Magazine, and her Western-themed poems in Weaving the Terrain: 100-Word Southwestern Poems and Bearing the Mask: Southwest Persona Poems. She holds the M.A. and Ph.D. in from the University of South Carolina, where she studied with novelist and poet James Dickey, and is coauthor, with Kay Ellington, of the Paragraph Ranch series of contemporary West Texas novels. www.barbarabrannon.com

As Will Brandon, she authors the Derrick Miles Mysteries, which transport Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson to the Texas frontier of the nineteenth Century. "The Wolf Hunt: A Tale of the Texas Badlands" (Gale/Five Star, 2020) was a finalist in the 2021 Western Fictioneers awards and won a copper medallion in the 2021 Will Rogers Medallion Awards.
