Jacqui Taylor wanted to become an artist from as soon as she could pick up a pencil. After attending art college, she worked for a number of years in advertising agencies in London and in Zimbabwe, later starting her own design busness in Harare.
During the '90s, while living in Hong Kong, she created A Hong Kong ABC Book for her son, Christopher and daughter, Lauren, and this led to the popular An African ABC published by Struik Publishers of South Africa. This was followed by A Baobab is Big and The Queen of Green - also published by Struik (now Random Penguin). Jacqui has illustrated several books for ther authors: Kubuka and the Magic Calabash - Janet Keegans; Chizi's Tale - Jack Jones; Namakwa's Garden - Mary Clanahan.
Jacqui’s writing is always ‘tried and tested’ on children of all ages and her detailed and colourful illustrations are enjoyed by all. Her latest book is The Tale of Trout & Bear, written as a story rather than rhyme.
She currently lives and works as an author and artist in the United Kingdom.
