Donna, a Texas transplant, originally from the small, quaint town of Colebrook in northern New Hampshire. A place where moose and snow are more plentiful than people. She is the oldest of two, but comes from a large extended family, as her Dad is one of 13 children. Living on a Christmas tree farm and spending weekends on her grandfather's dairy farm - bailing hay and milking cows; nature was her playground.
Donna is a 21 year retired Air Force nurse, with a career that spanned nursing, flight nursing, education, training, readiness, and policy. During her last job, she saw the stress service members transitioning to the civilian were under. This lead her to co-author her first book, Warrior to Patriot Citizen; focused on ensuring service members are prepared for transition well before transition occurs. She retired and transitioned out of the military, 30 Sept 2020, during COVID.
With an abrupt stop, she struggled to figure out what was next. At the encouragement of friends and family, she took her humorous Facebook posts, and formatted them into a comical book that recounted her family's adventures navigating the start of the pandemic. In Feb 2022, Pandemic Parodies was release.
After 6 months, and a mental/emotional crash and burn, she found her blog, Taking Off The Armor, focused on all issues before, during and after transition from the military. After hitting 1 year of retirement, she founded REBel LLC, a multifaceted business focused on veteran transition mentorship, consulting, and publishing her own work. A month later, she was blessed with the opportunity to co-host her first podcast, Beyond the Frontline. Her latest endeavor is starting a self publishing coaching business to help new indie authors navigate the rollercoaster ride of self publishing.
She is currently an author, blogger, business owner, podcaster and most importantly Mom to two beautiful children, Brady and Bianca and wife of 15 years to her rock, Brian.
