Dr. Dinesh Kumar Srivastava

D.K. Srivastava is an M.A. from the University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India and M. Litt., and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of St. Andrews, U.K. and formerly Director, Madras School of Economics, and Professor, Banaras Hindu University and National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi. His recent works include interpreting Economics inherent in Vaidic texts in modern perspectives.

Dr. Srivastava received the Tassie Medallion of Adam Smith for outstanding performance at the University of St. Andrews. The Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Economic Association conferred on him, the Kautilya Samman in October 2011. In February 2019, he was given Prof. J. K. Mehta Award for excellence in the field of Public Finance by the Allahabad University Department of Economics Alumni Association.

Dr. Srivastava was the Economic Advisor to the Tenth Finance Commission, Principal Consultant to the Eleventh Finance Commission, and Member of the Twelfth Finance Commission. More recently, he was Member of the Advisory Council to the Fifteenth Finance Commission.

Dr. Srivastava is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books. His recent books include ‘Federalism and Fiscal Transfers in India’ in co-authorship with Dr. C. Rangarajan, published by the Oxford University Press in 2011. He is the co-editor of ‘Development and Public Finance: Essays in Honour of Raja J. Chelliah’ (2012) and ‘Environment and Fiscal Reforms in India’ (2014), both published by Sage India. His articles have been published in well-known national and international journals including Indian Journal of Economics, Indian Economic Journal, Economic and Political Weekly, Journal of International Economics and Finance, Modern Economy, Journal of Advanced Studies in Finance, Business and Economics Journal, Global Business Review, Public Finance/ Finances Publique, Journal of Policy Modelling, and Artha Vijnana.
