Prem Kumar is a software developer, educator, and the author of five published technical and academic titles. His work sits at the intersection of software engineering and beginner-first pedagogy — writing textbooks that help first-time learners cross the gap between curiosity about technology and the confidence to build with it.
His debut book, Getting Inside Java: Beginner's Guide, was recognized by the India Book of Records in 2021, shortly after its release. It established the approach that has since defined his work across every title: start from zero, build something real, respect the learner's time. The books that followed — Web Design with HTML and CSS, Soft Skills and Personality Development, Getting Inside Android, and Full Stack Web Development with MERN — have each extended that philosophy into new domains, from mobile development to modern full-stack web technologies.
Web Design with HTML and CSS became a #1 Amazon India bestseller in CSS Programming and is now listed in the syllabi and curricula of more than two dozen Indian institutions — private engineering colleges, national technical institutes, state universities, and State Councils of Technical Education across Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, and more than a dozen other states and territories. Full Stack Web Development with MERN, released as a comprehensive academic edition, targets the same higher-education readership with deeper coverage of modern web stack fundamentals.
His academic background is in Computer Science Engineering, beginning at Silli Polytechnic and continuing through higher studies at Gandhi Institute for Technology, Bhubaneswar. That grounding in formal technical education shapes how his books are structured — mapped to the way Indian university courses actually teach, assess, and sequence knowledge, rather than to an abstract idea of a "general reader."
Prem lives and works in Bokaro, India, where he continues to write, build, and teach. His current projects include a forthcoming Python title and ongoing work extending the same beginner-first approach into the topics that increasingly define technology education in India.
His books are available in paperback and hardcover editions across Amazon India, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Denmark, and Flipkart, and are recommended by instructors and coordinators at institutions nationwide.
