John A. Albertini

John Albertini taught linguistics, English as a second language, and writing to deaf and hearing students at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology, USA. While there, he authored 27 research articles, 17 book chapters, and two books on language learning and the teaching of reading and writing to deaf students. He found that writing in journals (especially dialogue journals) tapped into knowledge and personal experience, and that it promoted reflection and the development of language and writing. In retirement, his interest in family history led to the publication of "Sam Coverly's Journal with Historical Notes," an interest in early American history, and research into his Italian roots.
