Maximiliano Ortiz

I am Maximiliano Javier Ortiz, graphic designer,

professional photographer, and origamist since

2002. I was born in San Nicolás de los Arroyos,

province of Buenos Aires Argentina.

Origami came into my life because of a television

program broadcasted in city of Monteros

Tucumán where I used to travel on my vacations

after finishing school days. I was surprised to be

able to make figures, with just a square of paper.

Then, in my teens, I learned how to fold creanes. I also paricipated as a

collaborator of the project “A thousand Cranes for Peace” in San Nicolás. I

made a senbazuru (a thousand creanes) for 3 years in a row which always

gave me great enthusiasm.

Over the years with the help of internet, I discovered modular Origami, I felt

passion from the beginning. I admire the creators of those designs and the

way they managed to fit everything into place without the help of glue I

saw it as something magical.

On september 2011 I decided to play with papers trying to find flaps and

pockets, and that is how my first model “Felicitas” came up. I found out

that I could do it and it was not something impossible to achieve. With this

publication of my first Book, with 23 stars of my authorship I feel a great

achievement. Every thing that is in it was made by me models, diagrams

design, photograph ans book design.

I hope this is the first of many to come and I encourage all the people to

play whith papers...

Surely they will be happy and something will come up!
