Lianne Steeman

Lianne’s passion for piano started at the early age of two. She would sit on her father’s lap behind the piano as he played. When she turned six, her own music journey began. Over the following 24 years, she obtained all basic grades in a music school and afterwards had piano lessons at The Conservatorium in Maastricht for over 10 years. Furthermore, she collaborated with international musicians and obtained experience in live performance.

Lianne has always been fascinated by composing music, with which she experimented occasionally during her teenage years. Her dream was to adapt a classical piece making it modern, especially by Chopin, her favorite composer.

When her father was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2020, she decided it was time to start writing her own music. The goal was to make an album for her father’s birthday, as a surprise to celebrate their mutual passion. She started an Instagram account (@pianopassion_lianne) to share the progress she was making with her friends and family. She never imagined that her account would grow over 10,000 followers and her music would be heard and played by fans all over the world.

Every song has been written from the heart, while coping with the emotional rollercoaster of seeing a loved one falling ill. Love, worry, family and farewell are all themes that are prevalent throughout the songs in this book.

Lianne now shares her story of love and loss through music also with you, hoping that you will find pleasure and comfort in playing these pieces – just like she did when she was writing them.
