Paul has been retired for several years and lives in Banchory on Royal Deeside, Scotland. He is father to James Byrne, a professional golfer and a member of the successful Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team that beat a strong American team in 2011 at Royal Aberdeen.
Paul has enjoyed close-up exposure to elite golfers and their development for many years. His book is the product of many years of research, testing and analysis of the golf shot done by himself and others. It also draws from his study of golf history and the origins and development of shot-making during the past two centuries.
