Erin McCarthy

Erin McCarthy is a National Board Certified 8th-grade social studies teacher. She is the 2020 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year. During her 10th year of teaching in 2022, she took a leave of absence to complete research in Greece as a Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Grantee, investigating how education ecosystems welcome and create a sense of belonging for groups who are often excluded. As an educator, her goal is to inspire all children to be self-directed learners guided by curiosity. Together we can raise global citizens who see the world through an equity lens and inspire students to see their role in making history. She is a social studies curriculum facilitator and a leader on the school and district equity teams, where she collaborates to help lead professional development.
