Professor Paul Johnson

Paul is the Executive Director of the Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis at Fordham University. In this role, he leads the Center’s mission to become one of the premier university-based centers for the art and practice of fundamental investing. He is also Chairman of the Value Investing Association, an association of university-based investment centers.

Paul is a member of the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing faculty and has been an integral part of the Columbia Business School Value Investing Program for over 30 years. As an Adjunct Professor at CBS, he has taught 65 semester-long courses in securities analysis and value investing to more than 3,500 full-time and executive MBA students. Paul received the Columbia Business School Executive MBA Commitment to Excellence award five times (2016, 2017, 2019, and twice in 2022) in recognition of his outstanding commitment to students’ educational experience, as well as the Columbia Business School’s Dean’s Prize for Teaching Excellence in April 2017. Paul has taught courses in Value Investing, Global Macroeconomics, and Financial Markets at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and has lectured at the Notre Dame University Business School. Paul is one of the Co-Directors of the Wharton Online–Wall Street Prep Applied Value Investing Certificate Program. Paul hosts a YouTube webinar series called The Value of Growth, which will be published as a hardcover book in 2026.

Paul has been an Adjunct Professor at the Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University, since 2015, where he teaches Value Investing. He received the Gabelli School of Business graduate-level Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence in May 2017 and the Adjunct Faculty Dean’s Award for Impact in May 2021. He has also taught courses on digital currency and Blockchain.

Paul is co-author with Paul Sonkin of Pitch the Perfect Investment, The Essential Guide to Winning on Wall Street, published in September 2017, and of The Enduring Value of Roger Murray, published in November 2022. Paul was a contributing annotator to The Most Important Thing, Illuminated, by Howard Marks (a book Warren Buffett considers one of the three most important investment books published); co-author of the history of value investing at Columbia Business School: A Century of Ideas, a book celebrating the school’s 100-year anniversary; and co-author of The Gorilla Game, Picking Winners in High Technology, which reached BusinessWeek’s best-seller list in 1998.

Paul holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School's Executive Program at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
