Comfort Dondo

In a world full of inequities, inequalities, and discrepancies in providing fair and just opportunities for all people regardless of race, sex, and gender identity, Comfort Dondo, a visionary Public Policy and Civic Change Leader, Social Worker, and Community Healer, steps up to challenge the broken system and break barriers. She offers over ten years of experience and expertise advancing advocacies, initiatives, and programs for women empowerment and community development for the poor, marginalized and oppressed. As an advocate against domestic abuse and violence, she provides women with the choice to claim their space in power and create their own lives. Moreover, serving as a mentor, educator, and change catalyst, she also inspires young women and positively impacts generations to create safer communities.

Currently, Comfort is working as the Founding Executive Director of her very own culturally specific organization, the Phumulani Minnesota – African Women Against Violence, addressing the needs of African immigrant victims and survivors. As their area of focus, they create gender-based domestic violence/sexual assault prevention/protection programs for Africans and their descendants in the US while improving literature and reviewing research on domestic violence/sexual assault in Africa and its impacts on Africans in the diaspora. With this, she serves as a Facilitator of cultural preservation and the bridge that connects Africans in the diaspora to their culture through cultural self-studies and the studying of each other’s culture. Furthermore, she is the first-time author of Facing the Giants, a self-help book and healing tool for survivors of trauma; and with her high regard for continuous development, she is now a Ph.D. Candidate in Psychology and Transformative Leadership with St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Besides the challenging roles Comfort fulfills in the position above, she concurrently manages to work in other organizations and initiatives that support growth for women and communities. Presently she also sits on the Governor’s task force on ending violence in Minnesota while consulting with local, national, and international agencies, including the UN, UN Women, UNFP with the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, the City of Minneapolis and the Brooklyn Park in Minnesota, Minnesota Coalition against Sexual Assault, and Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women. Her work includes advising the Black Diaspora Policy Agenda on ending Child sexual abuse, lobbying with the Washington DC and New York Rape Crises Center, among other organizations, and drafting policies that will change how law enforcement officers manage child sexual abuse. She has recently proven her expertise in public speaking as an International Transformational Speaker and National Speaker on Victims of Crime Act Administrators. While this is true, her commitment to ending inequity and oppression remains strong, as she participated in the Anti-Violence/Trauma Healing Program in the City of Minneapolis following George Floyd’s Death and Unrest.

In her spare time, Comfort is a Co-Host on two local TV shows in Minnesota, Women of the World and Empire Radio/TV show, while being a content creator that showcases women’s rights violations in Zimbabwe. Outside her role in forwarding social justice, she is a mother to three children, a twelve-year-old son today, and a set of nine-year-old twins. Additionally, she is also a Consultant and Real Estate Investor with excellent familiarity with consulting, advisory, and investing for the future.

As the world changes significantly and adapts to the demands and cries of the oppressed and marginalized, Comfort Dondo observed, took action, and stood forward to reaching humanity’s goal – a better world.
