Suining Ding

Dr. Suining Ding is a Full Professor of Interior Design at Purdue University Fort Wayne. She is passionate about design for human health and well-being in the built environment. Dr. Ding’s areas of expertise include environment-behavior studies, evidence-based design (EBD), design process and design methodology, digital 3D modeling, architectural graphic communications, and cross-cultural comparison of architecture.

Trained in architecture and interior design, and gained extensive experience in architecture, Dr. Ding is also a researcher. Her research inquiry line addresses evidence-based design (EBD) and environment-behavior studies in healthcare design. Dr. Ding holds the Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) professional certification from The Center for Health Design. She writes and publishes her research findings and creative work. Dr. Ding’s research and scholarly work have been published in numerous refereed books, journals, and conference proceedings. She has also made numerous presentations of her research at national and international conferences.

Dr. Ding is a National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certified Interior Designer. During her professional practice career, Dr. Ding participated in designing many large-scale medical centers, assisted living facilities, and office buildings. She is a long-time professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC).
