Put another way:

R. James Ferguson has played with computers, cars, guitars, libraries, tai chi, swords and academics but spends most of his life in the deep past or distant futures. The creative now is his way of getting there. He shares his life with one special partner and a few significant others: relations, friends, and teachers. He has neither cat nor dog nor horse but acknowledges all living beings as fellow-travellers. He writes historical fiction and historical fantasy, speculative science fiction, non-fiction and music. He lives in Southeast Queensland but tours the cosmos whenever possible.
