Val is eager for 'Bear: A Story of Autism and Difference' to spread joy across the globe by sharing the message of acceptance for all ‘just as they are.'

Val believes that having a positive self-outlook and self-esteem is paramount in the mental health of children, and that understanding and acceptance of one another is essential for children to embrace as they grow up.

Her first ‘Bear’ story began as a class assembly for early years children up through Year 4. The story is written in an accessible and child-friendly way to share information about autism and celebrate unique individuality.

Val enjoys working directly with children and young people on the autism spectrum and creating resources to support them. She established and leads a team of autism advisors and therapists in Shropshire, UK, as a not-for-profit social enterprise. Her work in autism has received national recognition, being published in national autism projects and journals.

Val enjoys being outdoors, ‘creating’ just about anything and spending time with her family and friends.

Val is writing further Bear books and is always open to ideas from readers. She is creating educational and therapeutic resources linked to 'Bear: A Story of Autism and Difference' that are available to download from her website www.bearautism.com
