Societies are built on rules because the human subconscious relies on the comfort they give, but these internal and external constraints 'seem' to define us, and blatantly limit us.
We have potential far beyond our desire for comfort and conformity. We are not our subconscious, not entirely, and not most importantly. Our ability to sacrifice for reality, to see and deal with what's needed to overcome our default nature is human progress, where nothing else is.
I write about that duality of the mind, partly because of my own experiences, and partly because the expression of it matters. Even subtle changes to our influences can lead us to new perspectives, and those can lead to newfound willpower and choices.
