Alan C. Bruce is a British crime author and award-winning photographer whose lens and pen both share a single mission to uncover what lies beneath the surface.
After years of working as a spectacle maker, Alan swapped lenses for landscapes and, later, for the layered mysteries that make up his acclaimed For the Love of Murder series. Set in the shadows of ordinary lives, his novels blend traditional whodunnit structure with psychological nuance, moral grey areas, and twists that land like a punch.
But Alan’s story doesn’t stop with fiction. As a full-time carer for his wife, he writes and photographs not just to create but to cope. Photography became his sanctuary, and writing his release. Whether capturing the flight of a red kite over the Essex countryside or penning the quiet agony of a wrongful conviction, his art is rooted in truth.
When he’s not writing, Alan can usually be found with a camera in hand, knee-deep in mud on the trail of a heron, or sipping a Guinness while plotting his next twisty tale. He currently lives in Essex and dreams of murder mysteries and misty mornings in equal parts.
