Guido Schmidt has spent more than 22 years in the video game industry, working at companies including Ubisoft, Paradox Interactive, Remedy Entertainment and Rovio. He began his career as a programmer before moving into game design, Game Director roles and, eventually, design leadership.
Throughout his career, Guido has become increasingly fascinated by the human side of game development: how creative teams work together, why projects succeed or struggle, how people grow as designers and leaders, and how seemingly small decisions can have an enormous impact on both a game and the people making it.
That perspective became the foundation of his Game Design: Impossible books, which explore game development not as a neat collection of processes and methodologies, but as the complicated, unpredictable and deeply human endeavour it really is.
Guido writes about game design, leadership, creative collaboration and the realities of building games with other people.
