“A poem is a journey, usually from an approachable place to somewhere surprising or revelatory,” says Doug Linder. “I try lead journeys that all readers, not just poetry aficionados, can enjoy.” Doug’s eclectic and accessible poetry draws from a boyhood in southwestern Minnesota, decades of exploring the North Shore of Lake Superior with his wife, Cheryl, a career as law professor in Kansas, and his variety of unusual hobbies and interests, from element collecting to curling. Doug is the author of two books on legal professionalism published by Oxford University Press, a lecturer on historic trials and civil liberties issues in the “Great Courses” series, and creator of the Web’s largest and most visited website on famous trials. His poetry publishing career began when his poem “Thinking of an Allium” was selected by Garrison Keillor as a winner in a “Pandemic Poetry Contest” and another, “The Noble Gases,” was published in Scientific American. Doug is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and Stanford Law School. He has two grown daughters, Ann and Kari, and loves to hike, travel, canoe, curl, and take regular dips in the energizing waters of Lake Superior.
