Helen Docherty

Helen is a children’s author based in Swansea, Wales. Her picture books have been translated into 27 languages, shortlisted for various national awards and staged as plays. The Snatchabook was voted No. 1 in the Kids’ Indie Next List Autumn 2013 in the US and won the Oldham Brilliant Book Award 2014 in the UK, which was voted for by school children. Helen often collaborates with her husband, the illustrator and author Thomas Docherty. Blue Baboon Finds Her Tune is their latest book together. Helen worked as a Spanish and French teacher before turning her gift with words to writing for children. She has delivered many creative writing workshops and loves helping children write their own stories.
