Fiona Feiang Shen-Bayh

Fiona Shen-Bayh is a scholar of authoritarian institutions, law and courts, and African politics. Her research examines the legal and judicial instruments of power as well as the challenges of promoting access to equitable justice and the legacies of autocratic rule.

She is an assistant professor of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland where she also holds a joint appointment with the College of Information Studies. She earned her Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and her B.A. in economics from Vassar College. She was also a Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan.
