Lisa J. Lehmberg is Professor of Music Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She holds a Ph.D. degree in music education from the University of South Florida, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from the University of Illinois. Her research focuses on older adult music participation and quality of life. Lisa has extensive experience as a PreK-12 school music specialist and is certified in the Orff Schulwerk approach. She regularly presents at international, national, and regional music education conferences and serves on the International Society for Music Education Publications Committee and the editorial boards of the International Journal for Music Education and the Journal of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction. Her work is published in various peer-reviewed journals and practice-based books. Most recently, she co-authored (with C. Victor Fung) the book Music for Life: Music Participation and Quality of Life of Senior Citizens (Oxford University Press, 2016) and co-edited and authored chapters in Meanings of Music Participation: Scenarios from the United States (Routledge, 2023).
