David James Ygnacio Combs

David J.Y. Combs earned his PhD in experimental social psychology. His doctoral work examined issues such as building trust, group-based emotions, and the terrible effects of humiliation. He has published widely in both academic literature and the popular press. After his doctoral work, Dr. Combs joined the U.S. Navy as an Aerospace Experimental Psychologist. In addition, he has also worked across the government, private, and non-profit sectors. The most meaningful work David has ever done, however, is when he and his wife co-founded a registered non-profit organization to provide data-infused language training for newly arrived refugees in the United States. Dr. Combs and his family live in northern Virginia.
