Kellie May

Kellie May is an experienced educator, parent, and children’s author with a Master’s degree in Education and a passion for helping young people discover the joy of reading. Throughout her teaching career, she has specialized in literacy and elementary education, with a particular interest in creating meaningful learning experiences that capture children’s curiosity and imagination.

After stepping away from the classroom to spend more time raising her two young children, Kellie turned her love of teaching and storytelling toward writing books for young readers. Her experiences as both a teacher and a mother influence her stories, which are designed to entertain children while encouraging them to explore, question, learn, and discover.

Kellie is particularly passionate about bringing history to life for young readers. Through adventure, relatable young characters, and carefully researched historical settings, she introduces children to the real people and events of the past in a way that feels personal and exciting. Her historical fiction includes the Teen Patriot and Teen Warrior series, which highlight the often-overlooked experiences of children and teenagers during the American Revolution and Civil War.

Whether she is writing an imaginative story for younger children or introducing middle-grade readers to a young person who lived through an extraordinary moment in history, Kellie approaches each book with a teacher’s understanding of how children learn and a storyteller’s desire to make them eager to turn the next page.

Her goal is simple: to create books children enjoy reading—and that just might inspire them to learn a little more when the story is finished.
