Ava Lorelei Deakin is a student, author, disability rights activist and public speaker.
When Ava was fifteen, she became the lead plaintiff in a federal discrimination lawsuit fighting for her housing rights as a person with a disability. A historic preservation group in Chicago tried to prevent her family from renovating their own home to make it wheelchair accessible, but Ava prevailed.
Since that time, Ava has encouraged other young people to drive positive impact by speaking up for their civil rights and liberties. Ava has ambitiously led initiatives to make her community accessible to everyone.
When she’s not writing, you can find Ava directing theater productions, plays and musicals alike.
