A marketing and communications specialist, Barbara Menke is also a volunteer firefighter and an aid worker in a French humanitarian NGO. She has written a first (bilingual) book in 2019, entitled "15 years in the heart of the action", which retraces the path of International Emergency Firefighters and their rescue missions, some of which she has taken part in.
Her second book, published on the World Alzheimer's Day in 2022, "Maman, ne m'oublie pas" ("Mum, do not forget about me"), is an inside account on the damage caused by this neurological pathology and, quite simply, a love story between a daughter and her mother.
Her third book is of a different literary genre altogether: this French-written illustrated book, for young and old alike, recounts with tenderness and a touch of poetry, the true story of Julian, the dwarf rabbit ("La véritable histoire de Julien lapin nain"). Quirky, funny and sad all at once, it is as true a childhood story as it is unusual.
Barbara Menke has also edited several books, including The Official Guide to the University of Oxford, for the esteemed British institution.
