Cary Epstein is an expert in the field of water safety. With 26 years as an Emergency Medical Technician and Ocean Lifeguard with the prestigious Jones Beach Lifeguard Corp located on Long Island, New York, Cary was awarded New York State's "Lifeguard of The Year" in 2017 & received a proclamation from the NYS Senate. In 2018, Cary was one of the first groups to train at New York State's Preparedness Training Center, operated by the Department of Homeland Security. While there, he completed over 56 hours of intense water rescue & ropes training & now holds certification as a Basic Rescue Technician & Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Technician. Cary is a volunteer member of both the Rescue Company and Water Rescue Team of the Long Beach Fire Department on the south shore of Long Island, NY. Just last year he became a certified FAA Part 107 drone pilot which he uses for both recreation and public safety rescue purposes. As an avid triathlete and 4x Ironman finisher, Cary saw the need for more advanced water safety services both privately and in the professional world. In 2010 he created "Epi+Center Rescue" where he manages and oversees water safety operations for open water swims and triathlons such as The New York City Triathlon and Swim Across America to name a few. Outside of his work protecting and saving lives, during the school year he is a full time College Professor and the Assistant Dean to the College of Education, Information & Technology at Long Island University.
