Dr Johnstone Chikwanda

Dr Johnstone Chikwanda is a highly sought-after expert in the Energy sector in Zambia and beyond. He has worked for several local and international oil companies within Zambia and South Africa. A seasoned trainer, entrepreneur and international speaker, he has authored and published more than 500 articles on industry developments as a columnist for Zambia’s leading newspapers and various magazines. He is regularly hosted on live radio and television interviews on industry developments.

The author has studied at Universities in the USA, South Africa and Zambia and holds a BA in Mechanical Engineering, an MA in Business Administration, and a Doctorate in Leadership Studies from Johnson University, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.

With a career spanning over 20 years in the same industry, the researcher’s unquenchable passion for the industry has taken him to international speaking engagements at continental and global events. The author is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and one of the experts in the energy sector who has influenced policy direction in Zambia. He has served on Government-appointed committees to deal with specific issues in the energy sector.

Dr Chikwanda has previously served as Board Chairperson of Indeni Petroleum Limited, Zambia’s state-owned petroleum refinery. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB), and past Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Rural Electrification Authority (REA). He has also served on the Zambia South Africa Business Forum among others. The author has consulted with and advised several senior government leaders on energy matters.
