Nicholas Dean

I am Nicholas Dean. I was born in the middle of the swinging sixties in Coventry. My background is very much working class and I grew up on a council estate on the outskirts of the city. I like to write about believable characters in believable situations. It is important to me for the reader to be able to connect with the characters and to hopefully recognise certain traits and aspects within them that connect to their own lives and backgrounds.

After a varied selection of jobs such as ‘a Croupier’ for a few years in my early twenties, I returned to education and went to university at the age of 28. I have now been employed as a teacher of media and film studies for the past eighteen years. I also spent a few years teaching English both in the UK and abroad at the start of my teaching career.

However, writing has always remained a passion and the ambition to produce successful novels has always stayed with me. I have one completed novel and I am currently working on my second novel, a crime noir novel, which will hopefully be completed early 2023. I have created a blog to record my self-publishing experience and journey
