David Shafer

Dave Shafer is a uniquely qualified, highly motivated health, safety and environmental professional who applied his expertise to employee training and education. Using the combined experience in industrial, construction, emergency response and Superfund activities he brings valuable insights and versatility into training otherwise lacking in most programs. His 40 plus years as a consultant, government contractor, college educator and employer produced a balanced perspective and effectiveness grounded in reality and practical thinking. Dave recently retired.

He has used his accumulated analytical skills, knowledge and experience to develop and build "The Safely Working Project", a comprehensive training and safety program. It is driven by employees and supervisors using sensible care to build a positive and safe workplace. Safe 6, a simple and practical delineation of a safe work practice, is the centerpiece of The Safely Working Project. The Project has been developed with small businesses in mind that have no dedicated safety person. However, any employer, small or large can benefit from the concepts presented by The Safely Working Project. These concepts and guidance are described in the book "Safely Working From the Ground Up."

Dave has a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Drexel University and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Prior to retirement he held the following certifications: CSP, CSHM, CHMM, CIT.
