Wendy A Williams

Wendy A Williams is a a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy. One of her loves is Star Trek and its spin-off series, That is because the Star Trek universe shows the best that humans can be and what they can achieve. Wendy first fell in love with fantasy while watching "Puff the Magic Dragon" and "The Smurfs" when she was a young child. Any story with mythical or magical creatures appeals to her.

Wendy enjoys writing for children. “Hooray for Breezy” is her first published children’s book. Her second book "Terrific Twin Tales" is in the same world as "Breezy." When she was a little girl, she didn’t see characters that were like her. Born with a physical disability, Cerebral Palsy (CP), she has used a wheelchair all her life. She wants children with disabilities to have a voice through her work. She often felt invisible as if she was the only child dealing with the thoughts, feels and struggles of having CP. Books, television and movies never had characters in them that were like her. She identifies with children and adults who feel that they don’t fit in, see themselves as outsiders or feel invisible for something out of their control (disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, race or ethnicity). Wendy wants all children to feel represented and valued in society. Every child experiences fears and insecurities, and has a longing to fit in. Wendy hopes that her characters represent the thoughts and feelings of all children, and that her stories can comfort and inspire all who read them.

Wendy is a graduate of New College of Florida. A unique liberal arts college that gave her the opportunity to develop the first draft of "Breezy" as an Independent Study Project. She studied graduate course work in Counselor Education at the University of South Florida. She lives in Florida with her husband and two children.
