John Frederick Zurn

As an individual with a mental illness in my early twenties, I experienced a number of serious challenges that led to “wrong turns” and “crash landings.” However, by redirecting my creativity, I have been able to write extensively in both poetry and prose. Over the years, I have consistently been published in poetry magazines and literary journals. In my books, I express my creativity with themes that include social injustice, miraculous events and mystical transformation.

Before retiring, I worked for many years as a teacher in various schools and as a rehabilitation counselor at a sheltered workshop for developmentally disabled adults. I also have an M.A. in English from Western Illinois University and have been married to my wife, Donna, for over forty years.
