Christopher Ozbirn

Born and raised in rural Mississippi, Christopher Ozbirn experienced many hardships in his young life. He was raised in a broken home from the age of seven. He witnessed his parents marry and divorce multiple times, was abused by his stepfather, and faced him in a courtroom all by the age of fourteen. Through playing video games, he escaped this trauma he wasn’t equipped to face. By adulthood, every problem he faced led him deeper and deeper into this rabbit hole. He had developed a full-blown addiction by the age of twenty-five. His mind was consumed by the thought of playing video games. When he wasn’t playing video games, he was researching them, or thinking about when he could play them next.

Through a period of fasting and reading his Bible, Jesus Christ miraculously delivered him from his addiction in 2018. He was led by God to share the process of how he recognized his addiction and overcame it in 2022. In his book, Finding Jesus, he details his journey of overcoming addiction through fasting and seeking Jesus. God led him to share his testimony so that others can walk in the same freedom from addiction and sin that his relationship with Jesus Christ brought him.

By the grace of God, he now leads a recovery Bible study in his local congregation, ministers to the homeless in his community, co-leads a men’s Bible study group, speaks at local rehabs, and plans to go on a mission trip to Africa. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” He never imagined back at the age of 25 that he would one day be doing the work of the Lord.
