Jay Sprayberry was born and raised in Texas. He lives in Splendora full time, but spends a lot of time at his grandparents lake house in Livingston, TX. He is 40 years old. He does everything he can to live a positive lifestyle these days and is living proof that people can make many mistakes in life and still figure out a way to make it through and become productive members of society. Having been to prison 4 times due to drugs and evading arrest, many people had written him off as a lost cause. Yet his family and friends refused to give up on him. After getting an 18 year prison sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice he decided to finally turn his life around. To get past the depressing environment that prison can be, he found his passion for writing. A passion he had had since he was a kid when he had started to write a book which was never completed and the same passion he had also pushed to the side over the years. Using writing to temporarily escape from the prison walls each day, he was able to fight his depression as well. He was blessed to make parole and now lives free, enjoying each day to the fullest.
"We Were Just Kids," is his first published book. He actually wrote it while he was locked up. His next book is title "Short Journeys Into The Mind Of William Jay." It is a book of short stories, poems, and various tidbits from the mind of Jay Sprayberry. It is more dark and macabre than his first book and will be listed in the horror section once its fully completed.
He can be reached on Facebook at Jay Sprayberry. He is the only Jay Sprayberry in Splendora, but the only page he still has access to is the one where he is wearing glasses. He can also be reached via Twitter where he runs The Site!!!! where he posts football highlights of the players who follow him and music videos from the artists who follow him as well. He can be found there via his handle @SprayberryJay. He would love to hear what you think about his work.
He has an amazing son named Braxton who is the one who inspired him to finally get his books published. Wanting to make the little guy proud spurred him forward. He is a momma's boy as well as his mother has always been there for him through all the hard times. He is very thankful for both of his parents and family. He also has a cat named Prissy and a dog named Charlie.
