Michael James writes picture books for the moment every parent recognizes — when a child wants something badly, has tried everything, and still can't quite get there on their own.

His Random Gamp Adventures series, illustrated by Irene Bofill, follows a mysterious traveler who arrives at exactly that moment. He helps. He vanishes. And the child is left with something they didn't have before. Michael wrote the first book for his own children, Aleigha and Barrett.

A poet with a master's degree in education, Michael lives in Mississippi with his wife and children. When he isn't writing, he's traveling, reading, or building wooden boats.
