Thomas A. Walsh – is a father, a grandfather and the eldest of eight children. He was born in 1954 to John and Elizabeth Walsh in Camden, New Jersey, where he attended Saint Peter’s parish elementary school in Merchantville, NJ.
In 1966 his family moved across the Delaware River, to a small farming village in Vernfield, PA. He continued his schooling at Saint Maria Goretti in Hatfield, PA, attended summer camp at Valley Forge Military Academy and graduated from North Penn High School in 1972
.
He began working part-time in his father’s business as a machine operator, held a few carpentry jobs and then began studying for a career in aviation. He earned a Private Pilot license in 1974 and passed his commercial written exam in 1976, but failed to master instrument flying, so he was unable to secure a Commercial Pilot license.
Seeking a new direction, he took several evening business courses at Villanova and Montgomery County Community College. During America’s bi-centennial year he decided to tour the country, in an attempt to see what was left of the frontier. That trip inspired him to go on a twenty-eight day winter survival course in the Rocky Mountains of Oregon, where he learned ski mountaineering skills at the Outward Bound School in 1977.
After that wilderness adventure, he stumbled into a Catholic Charismatic Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey and became part of The Body of Christ Prayer Community. He actively participated as a member for over fifteen years, however after observing a liberal trend in leadership, he moved on to a Protestant Evangelical fellowship. Hearing a call to return to the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church he found a new home in a men’s group at St. Mary’s in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania.
Tom began his literary career writing provocative articles for The Wild Man’s Journal from 2004-2012. The bi-monthly publication was aimed at Catholic men and focused on the confluence of religion and politics. He next penned an historical novel about the Cultural Revolution in America entitled Asleep In The Light in 2013 and then followed up with the book Marry Young – A Marriage Primer in 2020.
For a few years, Mr. Walsh experienced both the agony and the ecstasy of caring for an elderly parent. His Father eventually passed away and when he died, the living arrangements evaporated. Once again, the Lord was leading him in another direction. Tom is now an active member of Saint Stephen of Hungry Roman Catholic parish in Allentown, where he attends the Traditional Latin Mass.
He is now semi-retired, lives alone in a modest apartment and enjoys research, writing and spending time with his grandchildren. In the sunset of his life; he has chosen to tell an important story about a much maligned and yet misunderstood figure on the world stage.
