Susan is a perinatal clinical nurse specialist and author whose writing focuses on women's birthing experiences during Westward expansion in the United States 1850s - 1920s. These birthing stories are primarily based on her family history. With over 50 years of experience in the field and having taught OB nursing at highly acclaimed universities for nearly 20 years. Susan possesses a wealth of knowledge on the subject. She has published numerous articles on birth research in esteemed journals and has almost 1,000 citations. As an experienced researcher, she dedicates her life to working with women and their families during birthing.
Susan lives in North Idaho with her husband Ed (CRNA) , and they both enjoy hiking and traveling. Their family consists of seven children and two adorable grandchildren. They all have a shared passion for adventure, which seems to run in their family.
