Dewey Compton has roots that go deep into technology and video production, but his first love of creative storytelling, screenplays, and transformational experiences led him to become the chapter leader for the Kingdom Writers Association of Bakersfield, California. His 28 years as a teacher in both elementary and high school, along with his background in computer technology, perfectly combine to birth stories and to teach others that they have stories of their own, to both live and tell. Dewey uses his talents to help students develop life skills and discover their true identity as loving, kind people, and to live the story inside of them.
Dewey holds a single-subject credential in Industrial Technology and has received several Class A certifications through Sneak on the Lot industry training, where he attended over 100 hours of workshops, producing short films and taking the learning “back into the classroom.” He loves to keep up with technology by researching and purchasing industry-standard software so students can learn how to use state-of-the-art equipment. His devotion to excellence led him to become a CTAP technology mentor to K-12 teachers and give in-services at various school sites throughout Kern County, helping other teachers to become Level I certified in Technology.
When Dewey is not solving IT problems or weaving a good tale, he is hoping to “catch that record-breaking fish,” having once held fly fishing licenses in 5 different states. “I like to cycle and play racquetball,” he comments, “and did I mention I love fishing?”
Dewey currently teaches video production at West High School in Central California.
