James Purcell

James Purcell is an author, lecturer and sustainable finance practitioner. Born in Brighton, United Kingdom, his career has taken him through major financial cities, including London, Hong Kong and Zurich.

Most recently he was a Managing Director and the Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer at Credit Suisse. He and his team coordinated the firm's policy and approach to sustainable investing and lending. Previously, James was a Managing Director with UBS Global Wealth Management. He served on the UBS Chief Investment Office management committee and held a number of senior multi-asset investment roles. James is simultaneously employed by ESCP Business School, where he runs a course on Sustainable Finance.

James graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA (honours) in Modern History and graduated from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA (high honours). He lives in Zurich, Switzerland and spends his summers on a paddle board and winters in the mountains.
