Susan has a clinical nutrition background. She holds a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island (The American Dietetic Association curriculum), and a MS in Bioinformatics from New York University (Polytechnic.)
Early career employment involved working with Becton Dickinson Diagnostic Division, and Abbott Laboratories as a Nutrition Specialist.
Most of her professional career she has worked with over 30 hospitals to assist with developing protocols for parenteral nutrition (intravenous nutrition) and to provide in-service education for nutrition support in hospital settings. She served as liaison for physicians doing nutrition research and the medical departments supporting research. Education classes in hospitals were taught in three states approved for CEU (Continuing Education Credit for medical personnel.) She has been invited to provide guest lecture on Parenteral Nutrition at Yale University, as well as the University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacy.
Susan has coauthored articles published in Cope and Coping Journals on nutrition support for oncology patients to support during conventional drug therapies.
Presently; Licensed with the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) and member of the Texas Pharmacy Association, Bioinformatics.org, and active member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
Ongoing interest includes the study of Nutrigenomics (how nutrition may impact the DNA relative to causing genes to be upregulated or knocked down depending on desired outcome.)
