Prof Thomas Bieske

The author is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Florida. Prior to coming to USF, he was an NSF VIGRE Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on analytic and geometric properties of solutions to partial differential equations in sub-Riemannian spaces.

While serving as Undergraduate Committee Chair for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Prof. Bieske became interested in improving proof-writing among the mathematics majors. The resulting first edition appeared in 2014 and student feedback led to subsequent editions. Prof. Bieske is still working with mathematics majors to improve both their proof-writing and their soft skills necessary for success in STEM in the 21st century.
