Michael Lynes

Michael writes mainly historical crime fiction set in early 16th century Andalusia. He won a prize at the 2020 Emirates Literature Festival for his debut, 'Blood Libel', the first Isaac Alvarez Mystery. Sophie Hannah called it 'immensely gripping' and the Historical Novel Society said, 'Lynes knows his history and tells the story with verve.' The second in the series, The Heretic's Daughter was published in 2022. Awais Khan, author of 'A Company of Strangers' said it had 'everything a historical thriller should have, and more.' The final instalment of the trilogy, 'The Red Citadel' was published in 2023.

Michael founded, and is the chair of, the Gulf Chapter of the Crime Writers' Association. He co-edited the first anthology of short stories ever produced by a CWA chapter which Mark Billingham called, 'A diverse, dynamic, and above all brilliant collection of stories.' He is from London but currently lives with his family in Dubai.
